ONS projecting deficit to rise from 30bn to 270bn. Pretty much double the 2008-2009 crisis' peak but wHy diDnT tHe tOriEs fiX tHe rOof wHiLe thE sUn waS sHiNing??!! nOw THeyRe ruNniN uP tHe cRediT caRd! :peskykids:
-35% contraction of GDP. Projected to bounceback but how long it will take is the real question.
But of course Labour's manifesto, during economic norms, with less borrowing over a longer period would have bankrupted Britain. :fastyes:
Hopefully this will put all that nonsense to bed and highlight how running an economy with a sovereign currency is literally nothing like running household finances and all the analogies that come with it are trash. Even a surplus of 30bn would have made no difference to this when deficit is well into triple figures.

double post
I've been taking one of my pensions for the last two years - I got 25k + £100 a week.
If I live another 4 years I'll get an NHS one that will be more than that.

Boomers, innit. My father took very early retirement (technically voluntary redundancy followed by retirement) and still got an obscene amount of money. Head teacher of an unremarkably sized provincial primary school. Now sitting there receiving far more than he ever paid in.
