IIRC civil aviation could be safer in that regard if airlines used the same type of jet fuel that the military uses, which is far less prone to unintended ignition or explosion. But it's more expensive, so they don't.

Commercial jet engines are not capable of running on the same fuel which requires much higher pressures and temperatures than those which commercial engines are designed for.

Don't get me wrong, it's the future but it's nowhere near 'here' yet. The infrastructure is decades away and it's not a fallacy at all to say they're not viable for most. They're viable for homeowners with a garage and a bit of cash to upgrade their car to electric, that's about it.
