Yep, lots of confusion on what we want, changing almost daily. They have also said in fairness a third option is a new trade deal, worse than now, but better than WTO.

Before they get onto future hypothetical trading relationships they've asked we focus on present issues that will need resolving regardless of the trade deal. That's not exactly unreasonable. We told Scotland similiar when they were considering leaving the union. Anyway, we agreed to that timeline on day 1 of talks, EU27 voted on it as well from their end and are united in their approach, and we even helped draft the parts of the lisbon treaty they are following. If we suddenly dislike it, fine, but that's our problem and our fault more than theirs, we had our chance to object and reject the format and 'walk away' but we didn't, we agreed and here we are. Yes they might be sticking to the treaty rather than giving us doing us any special favours, but why should they? Would we? We've been very confrontational to them throughout all of this, with May even pretending they were meddling in our affairs and trying to derail brexit as an election tactic so she needed us to vote for her and give her a big majority. Backfired innit, burned our bridges a bit on that one. Again, our mistake.

I know the EU are putting their own interests ahead of ours when it comes to us meeting payments, but of course they will. Again, we would. Sometimes it seems like we're getting mad that we can't decide the EU's position and make life easy for ourselves. WHY CAN'T THEY JUST DO WHAT WE WANT

I do agree we need a firmer leader, but I don't think it's standing up to the EU that is the main issue, it's standing up to conflicting interests back home. May is being pulled in three different directions and is trying to please them all lest one of them topples her. It's reaching a point where she should just outline her plan, properly, and present it to the cabinet and basically tell them to back her or sack her. It's the first step, getting the government on one united front, and in all honesty should have been done fucking months ago.
