UKIP own fuck out of LibLabCon in by-elections

Quote:

The UK Independence Party (Ukip) claimed today that it had joined the “political mainstream” after its best-ever performance in a Westminster election.

The anti-EU party pushed the Conservatives into third place in a by-election in Rotherham, winning 21 per cent of the vote as Labour retained a safe seat. Ukip also came second in another by-election in Middlesborough, relegating the Liberal Democrats into third spot.

The results will increase the jitters in the Conservative Party that Ukip could do well enough to deprive it of several seats at the 2015 general election. It will spark fresh calls for an electoral pact between the Tories and Ukip to prevent Labour regaining power.

Nigel Farage, the Ukip leader, said today: “The political establishment is just going to have to wake up to the fact that UKIP is here and here to stay as a significant and rising mainstream part of British politics”. He added: “Today, UKIP represents the authentic voice of the aspirational, hopeful people of this country, people who believe that we can do better”.

I think I'm switching my allegiance from the BNP to UKIP TBH :fastyes:

Essentially similar policies but UKIP don't have the same baggage the BNP are unfortunately saddled with.

Good stuff. Could be the end of any more Tory governments if they carry on the way they are

Will be interesting to see if this shift translates to the next general election.

I can't see how the Tories could ever have a pact as that article suggests given they differ on the UKIP's fundamental policy.

Ironic that an increase in anti-EU popularity will ultimately end up with a more Pro EU government.

Enoch Powell 30-11-2012 18:03

 LibLabCon are equally pro EU other than bullshit rhetoric. For all Cameron's bluster he will roll over just as Milipede would do, or let's be honest, even the supposedly mighty Thatcher did.

FPTP FTW
