THINKING OF GETTING AN OLD XBOX

Primarily to play Out Run. Evidently THE BEST VERSION available is the original Xbox version. This does not play properly on the Xbox 360. OutRun Online Arcade is no longer available for new purchasers plus it lacked the OutRun 2 tracks anyway.

OutRun 2006 on the PC is an inferior port, it lacks the graphical quality of the original Xbox version (other than being in HD) and it lacks controller vibration which helps the immersion factor on the Xbox.

I did have a go of it on my old Xbox which I threw away (drive door stuck) via the scart lead, and it didn't look great.

What I think might be a good idea, would be to get an NTSC Xbox and obtain the necessary leads to output in 480p. I assume this will be a significant improvement on the scart lead? OR WILL IT? :itchychin:

If I bought a Yank Xbox, would I need to buy a power converter presumably? Or could I just buy another PAL one and mod it?

CAN ANYONE HELP?

Have you tried any emulators? Might be less hassle

OutRun 2 can't be emulated (WELL EXCEPT ON THE XBOX 360).

Get the ps2 version.

Ive got it on the ps3, its a good game, but Its not exactly something worth buying a console for.

Original UK xbox could output component. AND IIRC I had some native 1080p games.

Just playing it recently has reminded me how awesome it is, and I feel that if I don't get an old Xbox now while they're cheap, in future, the only working ones will cost a bomb. The games themselves are already getting pricy on the used market, after being cheap years ago. (OutRun 2006 is quite pricy anyway.)

AFAIK the PAL console cannot do this unless you mod it with the NTSC BIOS / operating system / whatever you call it.

Why get an xbox for it though? It will run on the xbox 360.

Video not working? GO OLDSKOOL! Or just give up. N* is bound to post a better vid.
